Color and environment are key elements that I explore in my work. I look to the natural world and the urban world to create work that addresses both the natural and urban atmosphere. The contrast between natural/urban plays out in my work through my color palette choices, sense memories of my travels and my mark making gestures on canvas. My response to my environment continually flips as I communicate my idea of finding a surreal balance between urban and natural.

I am constantly inspired by nature in my work and feel blessed to experience the beauty of the world around me. I want future generations to experience nature and all its beauty as well. As an educator and artist, I want to encourage students and artists to participate in art that directly relates to local and global issues that continue to challenge our lives.
